Discolored Water
In recent months, discolored water complaints have become more frequent in certain areas within the distribution system. Below is a link to a PowerPoint presentation provided to the City Council at the January 16
th City Council Work Session. The PowerPoint outlines some of the underlying issues that are causing the discoloration to occur. A water quality analysis has been authorized by City Council and will be conducted over the upcoming weeks.
Discolored Water Presentation (01.16.18)
If you are experiencing discolored water, here are some recommendations:
1)
Flush a lower level laundry tub or bathtub using
cold water only for 10-15 minutes or until the
water is clear. Once water is clear, flush other fixtures within the home with cold water.
2)
If the water is discolored while filling a bathtub or sink with hot water, the water heater may
have sediment buildup. Draining the hot water heater will remove sediment buildup in the
bottom of the tank.
