The Planning Commission has the primary responsibility for planning and zoning matters as they relate to the overall general welfare and development of the community. They review and provide recommendations to the City Council on items such as redevelopment proposals, rezoning, planned unit developments, subdivisions, conditional use permits, variances, and design review. Commissioners serve a three year term. The Planning Commission meets the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers next to City Hall. The Parks and Recreation Commission consists of seven residents of the city appointed by the City Council. This advisory commission has the primary responsibility of reporting and advising the Council on park and recreational matters, developing immediate and long-range plans for the park and recreational needs of the residents of the city, and enhancing the city’s parks through evaluation, planning, and initiating new programs and ideas. The Parks and Recreation Commission meetings the second Tuesday of each month at 6:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers next to City Hall.
